The new exhibition LABVOLUTION takes place at this year?s Biotechnica in Hanover, and represents a new platform for the world of lab technology. From October 6. - 8. DOTR is one out of 12 partners from science and industry presenting their vision of the future lab environment at the special exhibition smartLAB.
The smartLAB will give visitors a glance at the future of lab technology. The project has the aim to realize an intelligent, networked, and automated lab environment that will enhance not only work flows but also data analysis. DOTR participates with the integration of a non-invasive measurement system for O2, pH and biomass monitoring in the smartLAB. Networked with a central control unit for several devices, its measurements will then be joined together with other analyses data. One of the most important characteristics of optical sensor technology - the possibility to measure contact free through the vessel wall - ideally suits the flexible concept of the smartLAB. The measurement unit can be integrated in the laboratory bench while the sample just has to be placed above for data acquisition. Data on O2 concentration, pH and biomass development in culture vessels can then be obtained quickly and without sampling. This will contribute to optimizing the work flow in a lab and especially enhance evaluating bioprocesses.
